Indications

This medication is used to treat nausea and vomiting caused by pregnancy in women who do not respond to other treatments.

Pharmacology

Doxylamine Succinate is an antihistamine that squares Histamine (H1) receptor. It can cross the blood brain boundary and contains a tall liking for H1 receptors within the brain that squares H1 receptors. It too diminishes the activity of histamine at the H1 receptor by repressing both vestibular framework & Muscarinic receptor. It influences the vestibular framework & diminishes the incitement of the heaving center. Its muscarinic receptor inhibition may also play a part in antihistamine antiemetic action. Pyridoxine Hydrochloride may be a vitamin B6 analog. It is utilized to avoid sickness and spewing due to its antiemetic properties.                   

Dosage & Administration

To begin, take one tablet before going to bed (Day 1). If this measurement successfully controls side effects the following day, continue taking one tablet every day at bedtime as usual. However, if symptoms persist on Day 2, increase the daily dosage to one tablet in the morning and one tablet before going to bed. The most extreme recommended dosage is two tablets per day, one in the morning and one at bedtime. Take with a glass of water on an empty stomach. Swallow the entire tablet. Do not crush, chew, or divide these tablets. Take it on a daily basis rather than on an as-needed basis.

Interaction

Women who are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), which prolong and intensify the adverse central nervous system effects (anticholinergic effects) of antihistamines, should not take Doxylamine Succinate & Pyridoxine Hydrochloride. Alcohol and other CNS depressants (such as hypnotic sedatives and tranquilizers) should not be taken together with Doxylamine Succinate.
